• How much time passes between my first call and receiving my complete fertility assessment?

  At Fertilys, there is no waiting list. A few days after your first call, you can schedule an appointment.

  Drawing up a complete assessment can take 2 to 4 months. This timeframe includes the constraints of the menstrual cycle as well as laboratory processing times. (Infertility assessment: when to consult and which tests to request — Infertility Solution, section 7)

   

• Is my fertility assessment valid for other clinics or for the public program if I decide to change later?

  Your fertility assessment with us is valid for other clinics (in Canada only) if you decide to change later.

   

• Is it possible to complete our fertility assessment as a couple during a single appointment?

  Yes, absolutely. When indicated, we can organize the fertility assessment for both partners during the same appointment. This approach provides a comprehensive view of your situation and allows us to develop a personalized plan for your family goals. If certain tests require separate scheduling, our team will guide you through every step.

• What are the warning signs that should prompt me to get an assessment even if I haven't been trying to conceive for a year?

  You do not need to wait 12 months if certain signs are present. Here are the ones that should prompt you to consult promptly:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual cycle (Very spaced-out, unpredictable, or absent periods)

  • Significant pelvic pain (Pain during periods or intercourse (suspicion of endometriosis))

  • Medical or surgical history (Ovarian surgery, pelvic infections, chemotherapy, etc.)

  • Age (It is recommended to consult sooner)

  • Hormonal signs (Persistent acne, excessive hair growth, unexplained weight gain (e.g., PCOS))

  • Male-side difficulties (Known issues with sperm analysis, testicles, erection, or ejaculation)

  • Recurrent miscarriages (Two or more pregnancy losses)

  • Family history (Early menopause or infertility in the family)

  If something worries you or seems “abnormal,” it is always best to consult. It is better to evaluate early to maximize your options and your peace of mind.

   

• If my assessment reveals an issue, will I have to wait several months before discussing treatment options with a doctor?
